Reflections on Robbie from World Visions visit

From Robbie perspective, I thought that it was good that he explained how Victor lived his life in South Sudan. Robbie talked about how the lives of the children in South Sudan was like. He talked about that if they didn’t have a soccer ball and it popped they will just laugh together and show joy when a ball pops. They will always be creative and make a ball out of black tape. Children in South Sudan always finds a way to make them enjoy their life. Victor talked about that he’s was only young when he left his family. He came back to South Sudan and found out that his family were still alive but didn’t know that his sister was gone. Having world vision for South Sudan helps them know that there is always more people to help, like different companies. My thought on doing the 40hr famine for South Sudan is a good idea because others will know why there is a reason for doing it. Another thing is that it would be a good experience to do something that you haven’t done or make it challenging for yourself. Doing the 40hr Famine will be interesting in ways to show how it will feel in your perspective.

Reflection on Mr Gatluak Chuol’s speech

My why is for those who have suffered so much in Uganda and for the past years. The reason why I am doing the 40hr famine is that those in other countries don’t have much food and no roof to be under. My whole why is that what made those people who went to war kill those who stayed in South Sudan.
The thoughts hearing about South Sudan was something that I didn’t know about for example the enemies will chase you and shoot you even if you were young. The only way that you could get away was to just keep running and never turn back or go back. In South Sudan, you had no choice but to suffer the consequence because you had no way out. Hearing Chuol’s talk about his life being in South Sudan was kind of sad experience, but in a way, it was a good experience for him telling us about his time in South Sudan. What I liked about him sharing his thoughts was the part where he said that he had left his family for 10 years but heard that they were shot by those enemies who were going to war.

Chuol’s had shared a lot of things that happened in South Sudan and what his life was like. He talked about how they had to swim across to get where they wanted to. Even though that there were crocodiles were around you still had to swim because you were in their territory.

Task One: The reason why I am doing the 40 Hour Famine

Today together as a group we have contributed to the plan of what we are going to do for the fundraising. Also, the group talked about what we’re all going to bring on the day so that we all don’t be left behind on what we actually need. In the group, we also contributed to what we need to do to make that work so we don’t have to struggle with getting the things. I made sure that everyone had a chance to have their own expectations as we all agreed as one to do something that we all like to do and what others like to eat. Another thing that as a group we had done was give jobs for those to take responsibility for and have the right to bring something to be part of the group.
-Making sure that everyone was agreeing on what was wanted and also from their point of view of what was to be expected from each other. Also supported each other expertise.
-As a group, I contributed to the things the group agreed on. The group has agreed to bring stuff and be responsible for what they can’t bring. For example, if a member couldn’t bring anything there's a way to let us know.
-Phoenix has created a group chat on hangout so that we could communicate with each other on what we both suggest if nothing works out.
-In the group, I am providing cups, ice-cream scoop and also bringing chocolate syrup.
-The others have contributed to us to bring something as well so that we know how much of what we need approximately

-We all have planned to have it Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday as people may have course during the days we have it. So we all have agreed to have it in those days and we also planned to have 2 weeks to get the things we need.

My reflection

Hi my name is Evelyn and my teacher for 2014 is Mrs Barry. She has taught me how to create a piece of writing that turns into an explanation. Since I was at Glen Innes school I have made it into athletics and also made it into the netball interschools. In fact I was representing our school by playing netball on Tuesday and competing against other schools which was a tournaments.
My experience for the past few years is that I will miss this school and that it challenges me to work harder to get to the stage I need to be at for my age. The things that I enjoy at Glen Innes school is that it was the first time that I have been in a film before and also enjoyed spending time here.

This year has been the best thing in my life but the thing I enjoy the most this year is how some year 6,7,and 8 went to sport camp and had their time meeting other people while they were there I went to room 11 most of the time.

The other thing I like was the Manaiakalani Films. The most one I laughed at was Room 12 because we stole the USB and we changed our results for our math test on e-asttle.

In conclusion I am moving to college and I really had a great time at Glen Innes School and I hope I can come and visit.

Brainie maths game

This game is all about adding numbers together.
This game is really easy because I already know my addition. The only thing that I got wrong was the negative numbers. I kept playing and playing until I got it right. Now the negative numbers are easy.

Adding using tidy numbers with problems.

This week WALT: Solve addition problems by first adding a tidy number and then subtracting a small number to compensate.

This maths worksheet that I have to use has a different strategies like using a tidy number.
For example: 35+27=65-3=62
We are using bridges to add to get to the closest tidy number to 30.
In this worksheet I have learnt that some strategies can be easy to work out the answer on the maths worksheet.
